Dr. Somer J. Lyons

Dr. Lyons received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. She has been in practice in Minden since 2003. She is a member of the Contact Lens and Cornea Section of the American Optometric Association and is an InfantSEE state representative. She is also active in the Sierra Chapter of Los Medicos Voladores and Soroptimist International of Carson Valley.

When not at the office, Dr. Lyons hangs out with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. She also enjoys trail running and reading.

Terrance Powers

Valley Eyecare & Eyewear Gallery is thrilled to have Terrance as a member of our team. He has 17 years of experience in the optical industry and is certified by the American Board of Opticianry. As an expert in lens materials, designs, and treatments, he is a great resource for any questions about your eyewear.

During his spare time, Terrance trains dogs, coaches his sons' football teams, and cheers on the Steelers.

Samantha Juneau

Samantha joined Dr. Lyons's practice in January 2008. She administers the initial diagnostic testing which provides crucial information to guide the remainder of the eye examination. Additionally, she has endless skill and patience for training new contact lens wearers on the insertion, removal, and care of their lenses. She is a fantastic person to talk to if you have questions about the practice, our services, your insurance benefits, or the latest episodes of reality television!

Sallie Pope

Valley Eyecare & Eyewear Gallery is excited to welcome the newest member of our staff. Sallie joined us in May and brings her expertise in insurance billing. She has also been doing a great job giving friendly reminders for appointments and making patients feel at home when they arrive. In addition to her work at Valley Eyecare & Eyewear Gallery, Sallie is a full-time student in the pre-med, pre-vet program.

We want to make sure everyone feels welcome at Valley Eyecare & Eyewear Gallery. Whether you have an appointment, have an emergency (hopefully not!), need an adjustment on your glasses, or just feel like stopping in to say hi, we are glad to have you! We are open from 8-5 Monday through Friday and even have some evening and weekend appointments available. We are also available to answer any questions you may have about the practice, your glasses, or your eyes in general!

Even more important, however, is the health of your eyes. In our examinations we check all structures of the eye from front to back in order to catch subtle changes before they become sight-threatening. This preventative eye healthcare is the key to keep you seeing your best for years to come.

Premier Contact Lens Medical Services

When we perform our contact lens medical services we take into consideration several factors. We thoroughly evaluate your refractive error, your tear chemistry, the curvature of your eyes, the condition of your cornea and your visual and lifestyle demands. We consider all of that information and place a contact lens on your eye, making sure of a proper fit and good vision. Then, we review how to take care of the contact lenses, and, if you are new to contact lens wear, we have our expert staff teach you techniques for inserting and removing your lenses. If you are a new contact lens wearer, or if you are trying a new design or material in contact lenses, we have you do a “test drive” of the contact lenses for a few days to a few weeks depending on the lenses. When you return for your contact lens evaluation, if there is something that you do not love about your contact lenses, we can make adjustments at that time until we know that you are in the best possible contact lens available.
