Nicole Duster Receives Valley Eyecare & Eyewear Gallery Scholarship

Congratulations to area senior for being selected as the recipient of Valley Eyecare & Eyewear Gallery Scholarship Program.

Nicole Duster, a senior at Douglas High School, was awarded the $500 Valley Eyecare & Eyewear Gallery Scholarship. She will be attending either University of Washington, University of Oregon or University of Nevada this fall, majoring in biochemistry.

Dr. Somer Lyons and the staff at Valley Eyecare & Eyewear Gallery understand the importance of supporting education. “This young lady has her entire future before her. It’s an exciting time of her life, and I believe she will be a success in her endeavors,” Dr. Lyons comments. “All of the students that applied for the scholarship demonstrated ambition and desire to be successful. I know that the scholarship committee had a tough decision, but Nicole’s essay was outstanding.”

This is the first year that Valley Eyecare & Eyewear Gallery offered the Scholarship Program to area senior students. All applicants submitted a questionnaire and answered an essay question. More than fifty applications were received by the scholarship committee of Soroptimist International of Carson Valley to make the final decision.
